Omowoma was ten years old when she lost her dad. He was a dedicated father until his death. They were not very rich but he could provide the little he could for his family. Her dad never bothered her mum for anything. He would enter the kitchen and prepare dinner whenever her mum was tired. With the little education he acquired in the 50's, her dad was able to make good use of himself. He built a house in his village and sent Omowoma and her sibling to school but never failed in giving them meaningful scolding whenever they were wrong.
It wasn't long when Omo's father
returned from the council of elder's meeting that he started complaining about
his head aching him. Usually when Omo's dad is having this, the mum would give
him a lovely head massage. Her Mum tried it but it didn't stopped the head from
aching harder. He complained about his entire body .He was in excruciating
pains as he whined on the floor. His eyes turned red. Omo's mother called out
to her neighbours for help. Before they could lift him up, Omo's father was
already gone. He is gone, Omo's mother screamed with a wailing voice throwing
herself on the ground. He is gone? Who is gone? What does that mean? Omo
whispered to herself.
She didn't understood the word
'gone'. She and her little sister were asked to go inside. In less than 30
minutes 'He is gone? Where has he gone to? But he didn't tell us he was
traveling. She thought to herself. Where's Daddy? Asked Elo, Omo's five year
old sister. Daddy has traveled she muttered. But to where?
